About Me

Hi, my name is Alisa and I’m the author of contemplating sweets.

I grew up eating good homemade food, but I never actually cooked/baked anything myself. I got through college eating hot pockets, pb&j sandwiches, or going out. I always thought I was a bad cook, and that I couldn’t bake.

When I had my first baby and became a stay at home mom, I realized I was going to have to start making meals to feed my family. I started slow and with lots of mistakes (sorry husband!), but I quickly learned that cooking/baking was fun, and it soon became one of my favorite things to do! Now I’m a completely different person from those college days. I experiment with different foods and ingredients, I bake regularly, and I love sharing my creations with others. I’m half Japanese and so a lot of my recipes are either Japanese, or Japanese-inspired.

I now have three little girls age 4, 2, and <1 (and a fluffy cat that is 5). I’m going to do my best to juggle family, life, and this creative little outlet of mine, to bring you yummy recipes and pretty pictures.
